Having a really hard time with VPN wireless

Can someone provide an easy way to get my Amazon fire stick on AVPN? I really want that traffic going through the VPN. I am just having a heck of a time.

Fire sticks are much harder than standalone Fire Tv. Good luck. Most people aren't successful in their attempts.

It uses Android so I suspect you have to download OpenVPN and then upload a relevant config file to it.

It is a wireless only android device. Has anyone had any luck installing OpenVPN on these? I have been told that the best way to do this is through the router. So I am looking into purchasing an OpenWRT or DDWRT router. Would this be able to send my device through airvpn?
