New User - Google on Android sees my real public IP address

Recommended Posts

My phone is connected to AirVPN via OpenVPN for Android. Most websites are fooled by the VPN, but when I ask google directly (OK Google), it shows my actual IP address. I do not have this issue on my PC. What can I do about this? Thanks in advance.

Most likely Google Play Services uses your real interface to access the infrastructure.

OpenVPN Connect uses the VpnService API, which is not a native way of creating tunnels

like in Linux with traditional interfaces, but rather with hooks.

This means that Google can totally decide that their services will bypass it, which will not

be surprising if it is the case.
