Why do I need the experimental version in OpenSuse Leap 42.2?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I upgraded from Opensuse Leap 42.1 to Opensuse Leap 42.2 and was unable to start the client. I was prompted for my root password when attempting to start up Eddie (either via icon shortcut or terminal) but it would never start.

I figured from other posts who had similar issues after Fedora upgrades that I might try the experimental version of Eddie, and it worked.

My questions are:

1) Is this an issue with Opensuse or the AirVPN client or both?

2) How can this be made better to allow for a smoother experience with Eddie stable after the next version upgrade of the distro?

3) What is needed for Eddie stable to work on Leap 42.2?

Thanks a lot in advance

Hello!

I'm guessing it's more to do with the client, as the current stable doesn't support mono 4 and probably other dependencies I don't know about. Air is constantly adding to the Beta client fortunately, so if you run into other issues, do make sure to report it .

Moderators do not speak on behalf of AirVPN. Only the Official Staff account does. Please also do not run Tor Exit Servers behind AirVPN, thank you.

Hi,

I have an issue with the experimental eddie, i cant't remember what i did exactly but i just reinstalled all the mono packages in my system, at least most of them got pulled during the installation of eddie.

Assuming bash is your default log in shell, this is what i did.

mapfile -t mono < <(zypper --no-refresh se -i mono | awk '$1=="i"{print $3}')

zypper in -f "${mono[@]}"

zypper should prompt you about which packages are going to be installed, just say yes and pray
