how to use Air openvpn with pppoe-standalone toplogy

hi,

 

I am looking for any advice on how to set up linux firewall for pppoe connected computer on AirVPN.

 

I know of the linux firewall rules recommended by Air, but the extra device (ppp0) confuses.

 

My setup is

local iface= eth0 

pppoe conxn = ppp0   (masquerades outbound to internet and forwards to eth0).

 

Basically lan setup with pppoe on one computer.

 

How do I add tun+ to this setup? 

Which is the external interface ppp0 or tun0?  If ppp0 is external iface then can I still masquerade tun+?

Do these rules still apply? 

FORWARD -i  tun+  -o eth0 -j ACCEPT

FORWARD -i eth0 -o tun+ -j ACCEPT

The Airvpn recommended iptables rules I am referencng is under "Prevent leaks with Linux and iptables" in the Howto subforum.

ppp0 is your virtual tunnel interface to your ISP, just like tun0.

Normally you should not set any rules on it

tun0 is your VPN interface, and eth0 is your local physical interface - thats where the rules should apply.

For the readers (the OP has been already informed via ticket) with ppp we have a very special situation:

 

 

PPP Anomaly

For some reason when PPP connects and is the sole outbound gateway the routing table works but the PPP default route has only the UH flags and no ‘G’ flag (for gateway).  When OpenVPN attempts to change default gateway it is unable to detect the PPP device due to the missing flag.
