Eddie disconnects during Mac's idle periods

Recommended Posts

Hi

When leaving my machine idle for some time (I used a Terminal command in OS X 10.10 Yosemite to prevent the machine from sleeping) I notice I sometimes get disconnected from AirVPN, and thus from an applications I use that will exit itself if it loses a connection for too long. It's problematic.

If I'm using the machine this problem does not occur.

I have included a segment of the log file that covers the activity around the moment of disconnection. I've made part of it bold where it seems there's useful information.

Could anyone advise why this might be happening?

I modified the Mac's sleep routine to not go to sleep during inactivity or when I close the device's lid. If I had to guess, it seems although the computer doesn't put itself to sleep when the lid is closed, the Eddie client thinks it should.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

you need to check your Yosemite settings, please see also here:

http://superuser.com/questions/867370/mac-os-x-yosemite-how-to-disable-automatic-logout-when-idle

Make sure that when idle, Yosemite does not disconnect WiFi and/or turn off physical network card. From the logs, it's clear that communications to/from the VPN server are blocked.

Also remember all the bugs of Yosemite in WiFi, in versions 10.10 and 10.10.1 (most of such bugs, if not all, should have been fixed in 10.10.3, so you might like to upgrade), in particular the bug that causes WiFi to disconnect when the computer is idle:

Kind regards
