Conflict with Kaspersky Internet Security

Hi,

 

I use AirVpn since yesterday. I have a confic with Kaspersky Internet Security and AirVPN. Every time, I turn AirVpn, Kaspersky detect a "Dos.Generic.SNFlood" or "Scan.Generic.UPD".

when you connect OpenVPN in UDP, all of your traffic (incoming and outgoing) is wrapped in UDP. This triggers (wrongly) UDP anti-flood and anti-scan security systems, as Kaspersky is reporting. Disable such systems, when you're in the VPN, or connect in TCP (at the price of a performance hit).

The best solution is usually the easiest one. In this case, the easiest one to infect your Windows, yes.

 

Do not turn it off, just see where the problem is. If Kaspersky is blocking OpenVPN, I think it's just not marked as trustworthy, it could not verify the digital signature; the original OpenVPN is automatically marked as trustworthy with all privileges.

Solution 1: Install original OpenVPN somewhere on your computer and configure the AirVPN client to use this openvpn.exe.

Solution 2: Mark Air's openvpn.exe as trustworthy manually.

That might be not enough with Kaspersky in case OpenVPN connects in UDP (which is the most common usage); it is necessary to disable UDP flood protection for the previously mentioned reasons.

It is enough, I've got no such messages, and I think you know I use Kaspersky, too

 

Mr. gantz21, what version of Air's client are you using? Installed or portable? Does the logfile of both Kaspersky and client give any clues about what might really happen?

You can also post your firewall rules to see if that's the issue.

Is the Kaspersky Security Network activated?

 

Again. I would have the same problems with Air's client, but I don't have them! So it's a matter of configuration, really.

It is enough, I've got no such messages, and I think you know I use Kaspersky, too

I think it would be great if someone already knowledgeable here would lay out, step by step, how KIS could possibly interfere with AirVPN -- and what exact steps anyone could take to set KIS to not do so.

 

Also, going thru this process for other well-known AV products would be nice.
