Narey 0 Posted ... Hello all, I am currently at College needing to use a VPN to be able to do my work as certain websites that I need are blocked. I previously used Hotspot Shield for my VPN provider as it was free and fast however, my college must have blocked the ports or something that it used. Therefore, I purchased AirVPN in hopes that this would work however it does not. I don't currently know how to change the type of connection or port using the AirVPN client on my Macbook Pro therefore, I turn to the forum for help as I really do need to access restricted websites for my work. I have contacted the IT support team and there's nothing they can do to unblock the websites that I need therefore, I need your help. Thanks,-Adam Quote Share this post Link to post
Staff 10015 Posted ... Hello, you can change connection mode in Eddie menu "AirVPN" -> "Preferences" -> "Protocols". Note that Eddie runs on OS X Mavericks or Yosemite. Older OS X versions should run Tunnelblick (another free and open source OpenVPN wrapper with a nice GUI). Try OpenVPN over SSL (in Eddie "SSL Tunnel - Port 443") if anything else fails. You should also get informed whether your node (in the college network) is behind a proxy or not. Kind regards Quote Share this post Link to post
Narey 0 Posted ... Hello, thanks for the reply. I was able to get into the settings and I literally changed and selected every tick box with no avail. They must have really done a number. Anyway, yeah, it's not working on any of the different connection methods. Please could you advise more? Thanks, -Adam Quote Share this post Link to post

Baraka 32 Posted ... Try it over a router with Tomato or DD-WRT. That's the only way to be sure. Quote Share this post Link to post
