Hello,

I'm still experiencing poor torrent performance.

I have noticed that while connected to some servers, the torrents don't start at all. When I change servers, they will connect almost immediately, run and then poop out after an hour or so.

Any ideas what's happening here?

I'm connected to Aquilae now. I was torrenting at a decent speed. The connection is still active; however, there is zero torrent traffic moving.

I'd like to get to the bottom of this to see why this is happening.

Edit: Edited to add that while connected to some servers, the torrents never connect to the trackers. I have to continually switch to another server for best performance. This is weird.

Information on your OS, which OpenVPN and torrent client you use (with version) and generally some logs would help us getting to where you please - to the bottom.

I don't know if other clients can do the same, but if you use uTorrent, switching to the Peers tab, right clicking into it and selecting the option to log the traffic generates you some interesting output.

OS X, latest version -- 10.9.3.

I'm using OpenVPN via Viscosity with the OpenVPN option set to automatic.

I configured the OpenVPN config generator files using UDP. I tried TCP and it's the same.

I'm using Transmission 2.8.2.

The traffic now is all over the place. It will burst to 4-5 MB and then nothing for a few seconds only to go back up. Very frustrating.

I'm connected directly to my router via ethernet. I've not changed any settings on the router or firewall.

Gigan3rd,

Thanks for that bit. I think you might be on to something with my issue.

My torrent client's (Transmission 2.8.3) log is giving me messages such as "Connection to tracker failed", and "Tracker gave HTTP Response 0, No response."

On most NL servers, the performance is fine. If I connect to a USA-based server, a DE or a Switzerland server, it runs fine and drops out and back and forth.

I contacted Spark Labs to see if they had any input to my issue. They recommended an OpenVPN TCP connection for more reliability (albeit a performance hit) but I still have the same issue over TCP.

It wasn't always like this. Six to eight months ago, this never happened. Some servers won't even connect to the torrent swarm.

I wonder if any other Air VPN users are experiencing this issue.

Indigo I have been having the same problems lately.  When I first connect to the servers, any of them it seems, My torrents move pretty quickly.  Then after about 1 min or so they all drop to about .1 kB/s and never go fast again until I completely shut down uTorrent, Disconnect from Airvpn and restart everything all over.  Been doing it for several weeks now.

Which trackers are not working (URL or name)?

it runs fine and drops out and back and forth.

There's a number of users who have reported this, too. Setting a download speed cap solved the problem for most of them.

The trackers I'm having issues with are udp://tracker.publicbt.com:80, openbittorrent.com:80.

Connection failed. Could not connect to tracker.

I tried limiting the download speed but I'm getting the same results. It works fine for a few minutes, and then it drops out. There is no rhyme or reason as to when it is going to behave this way.

Well, it's gotten to the point where the service for me is unusable.

I have tried different ports, different servers. The torrents have high availability. They will run fine and then drop down to 9.3k.

I am being throttled and I don't know how to circumvent that.

I was connected to Cephei and the speed wasn't acceptable. I switched to Canopus. It was fine for a couple minutes and then it dropped to dial up speed.

I switched then to Naos/GB. It was fine for a couple minutes with an acceptable speed.

I'm now pulling 9.4K.

Could someone help, please?

I've switched servers a few times over the past 30 minutes.

They run fine for a couple minutes and then down to dial up speeds.

Something is going on here.......

Hello,

if it happens on every and each server you try, it might be your ISP line. If the same behavior occurs with many different providers the probability that it's our ISPs fault extremely low. If it happens only on some servers, can you please post a list?

Kind regards

When I disconnect the tunnel, I get high speeds. For obvious reasons, I am not using my connection naked over torrent.

I'm connected now to DE Aquilae via UDP. TCP yields the same results.

I DO think it is my ISP. I have a business line cable connection over Comcast. Could they be throttling me in a way?

It was downloading on Aquilae at 9.1k. It just bursted very high and the torrent completed.

I'm having exactly the same issue on Bell Canada.

It could be that they are throttling me, but what would be the point of not throttling straight-up torrent traffic and throttling VPN traffic?

I'm wondering if this has been resolved. I have been experiencing this for a month, but as a light torrent user it hasn't bothered me, but it is still happening as of today, no matter the location of airvpn's servers, ports, or any other variable I've tried.
