route external IP outside the VPN tunnel on tomato router

Recommended Posts

I have flashed tomato onto my router and have the vpn working just fine.  However, I need to route certain external IPs outside the VPN.  On the OSX client Eddie this was done in Preferences -> Routes.  How do I specify which external IPs to exclude from the VPN in the tomato interface?

That's not a trivial matter unless the tomato developers have coded a GUI for routing policy creation.

If you have an asus router I suggest Merlin Asus firmware, as he's created such a thing, accessible in each openvpn client.

Hello.

"GUI for routing policy creation", with AdvancedTomato(user friendly interface with "click and play" features) and a RT AC66U router: path is VPN / OPENVPN Client / Routing Policy, then enter your parameter. No more pain.

Thanks I will check these out.  This doesn't necessarily have to be GUI-based.  I am currently using route add external_ip 255.255.255.255 net_gateway in the Advanced -> custom configuration tab.  Does anyone know the correct syntax to get what I want?
