Problems with eddie-ui on AlmaLinux9 with iptables

Recommended Posts

I am new to AirVPN and VPNs in general. I've installed AirVPN eddie-ui 2.24.6 x64 Linux Fedora on my AlmaLinux9 system.

The only graphical display I have is my Cygwin X server on my Windows desktop, and there the eddie UI is very slow. It takes more than 30 seconds for it to react to any actions, like button clicks, etc.

I would like to try the CLI, but I can't find any documentation for either the UI or CLI other than the FAQs. Does such documentation exist?

I'm running eddie-ui as root, so I believe I should not have any permission issue. Watching the console output from the terminal where I launched the application, I see what look like reasonable logs, except for these:

I 2026.08.22 10:54:33 - SSL - Not available
(eddie-tray:32692): libayatana-appindicator-WARNING **: 10:54:34.491: libayatana-appindicator is deprecated. Please use libayatana-appindicator-glib in newly written code.

I was able to log in using the UI and when it asks me to connect to a recommended server, I click on that and after a long wait, I get the following pop-up message:

There is no available or enabled Network Lock mode, sorry.

I see the following logs:
