Xbye 1 Posted ... I have tried contacting support, but they have been pretty useless with suggesting TCP, lower MTU, different node, etc. I have tried using Eddie, I have tried using Wiresock. I've tried TCP, lower MTU, and different nodes. I pick the closest nodes to me (Los Angeles Sarin/Maia). I do split tunneling for livestreaming applications. When there are no issues, I am connected just fine. Low ping, good downstream/upstream. When the issue happens seems to be random, usually while gaming and livestreaming. What happens is that, my upstream seems to be fine, but my downstream seems to stop completely for almost 30 seconds. Literally 0 bits are being sent through the VPN. This has been leading me to disconnecting or lagging out while gaming, and it's getting very frustrating. I have tried other VPNs but I like how AirVPN's port forwarding works (which I use for some games that require it). Any advice would be helpful in resolving this. Share this post Link to post

My first suspicion would also be MTU, it's like a textbook symptom of packet fragmentation. Do you, by any chance, use WiFi? I've lowered my MTU as low as 1200 and it just still kept on happening. It also makes no sense since my default MTU from my router should be more than enough for Wireguard. You'll find that Sarin has been plagued for weeks (at least) with frequent short intervals of packet loss of varying degrees of severity. I find it unusable. Maia has had some issues as well. Lately I'm seeing a lot of this on US servers, but at least of the ones I check, Sarin appears to be the worst. And it is frequently Air's "US" choice. I normally connect to US overnight and then in the morning have to manually change away from Sarin. Edit: I should add that this is not a criticism of AirVPN, which I love overall. My best guess is that these problems relate to external DDNS attacks on these Air servers, which attacks seem more and more a regular feature of internet life. I'd be curious to hear staff input on it. Share this post Link to post

I went ahead and bought a new router this week, over $300, got tired of the old router's limitations/issues and wanted to get something future proof. Unfortunately even on this one, I dropped downstream connection again yesterday evening, and even just now a few minutes ago. I also want to add that I am using two STP Cat6a cables, one between my modem/router and one between my router/desktop. They are pretty new too. Despite the above though I still seem to only experience issues with AirVPN only. I don't have issues with other VPN services. 1 CeciF4 reacted to this Share this post Link to post
