Eddie won't Exit. Pop_Os linux

Recommended Posts

Eddie 2.23.1

When I try to quit and close Eddie, it doesn't close.
This is highly repeatable. It does it every time I try to quit Eddie.

The overview page shows "Exiting"

The latest log entry is "Shutdown in progress"  It has been 20 minutes.

But it won't actually close. It stays in this state indefinitely until I restart the computer, or log out and back in.
The eddie-tray thingy is still there in the panel and it responds if I select Preferences or About.  Clicking the X in the window brings up an Eddie dialoge box asking if I really want to quit, but selecting yes or no closes it with no effect.

Trying to end it with

sudo systemctl stop eddie-elevated.service
made my whole system freeze forcing me to reboot.

Woah, this is bad. Any output in the journal?

# journalctl -u eddie-elevated.service

In any case, you seem to be the first with this. Maybe a Pop_OS-specific thing?

No, nothing in the journal.

… just noticed, you did elevate privileges before looking into the journal, right? Because if not, no output is expected; only the user journal is accessible in this case, and the elevated process runs as root.

$ sudo journalctl -u eddie-elevated.service

.

Yes, I did it as root

$ sudo journalctl -u eddie-elevated.service
-- No entries --

Okay. I think this is a case for the devs. Would you kindly open a ticket with support and refer to this thread?
Though… you're the only one with this so far, so I suspect something on the local site blocking termination there.
