Constant disconnect loop

Every time I try to use Eddie, I first get the message 'an instance of Eddie is already running' followed by constant automatic attempts to connect to a server, which immediately disconnect. This goes on in a loop until I give up and exit. The problem is the same on my laptop and pc.
