When I send an email, is it connected to my IP address? If I send an email while connected to the VPN will the IP address be masked? What about receiving it as long as I check while connected to the VPN? Is there any trace?

No, when you send any such email from Gmail, no trace of your original IP, whenever you are connected to the VPN server.

You can even check yourself sending you an email, and you have to do is copy and paste email header in this website eg: http://my-addr.com/trace_email_address/free_email_trace_route/online_email_trace_route_tool.php
