https://smile.amazon.com/ has intermittent connection problems with VPN on. Not sure if https://smile.amazon.com/ is attempting to block VPN or AirVPN DNS is a concern.

Try Protocol UDP Port 443 Entry 1 IP xx.xx.xx.xx. Worked for me.
