ANSWERED No Internet after using eddie **using OS X**

Recommended Posts

I use Eddie under OS X High Sierra. When I disconnect Eddie my internet no longer works even if I leave eddie running or exit the program. I believe it's a recent issue.

Britman reports the same problem under Ubuntu:

I checked the solution given on the topic he created but, for what I understand (little) it doesn't apply to OS X.

Thanks.

Open up the Terminal and type "sudo pfctl -s rules". If you see a huge list of firewall rules, it may not have turned the network lock off. Ive had this happen before when Eddie has crashed on me. When you enable the Network Lock, Eddie adds its own set of rules to the PF firewall (which is normally off to begin with) so you can't connect to anything but your local network, and AirVPNs servers. When you shut Eddie down, Eddie removes it all and sets it back the way it was. If its off, you should see almost nothing in the list of rules, Apple's defaults are very minimal, where Airs settings are a list of the IPs you can connect to. If your rules look something like the one below, it never reset the Network Lock.

The MacOS AirVPN "Network Lock" PF rules:

Thanks for the answer.

Here's what I get when I type 'sudo pfctl -s rules':

No ALTQ support in kernel

ALTQ related functions disabled

scrub-anchor "com.apple/*" all fragment reassemble

anchor "com.apple/*" all

Support gave me an answer that solved the problem:

Hello and thank you for your choice!

Can you please check the DNS settings of your system while Eddie is not running? If the VPN DNS has remained set, your system will not able to resolve names when not connected to the VPN (that should never happen, but maybe Eddie has some issue or crash?).

How to change DNS in Mac:

You can set any public DNS you prefer. We recommend OpenNIC for their commitment to privacy and neutrality, please see here:

We look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards
AirVPN Support Team

Thanks to them!
