Vimes 4 Posted ... Hi Having decided to stop using my DD-WRT router configured as a VPN client and use the Eddie application for a single PC I now have an issue with my WOL magic packet sender, attached image. ......by doing this it means that our TV's and other devices can access the BBC iplayer and work without issue. However when I then use the WOL sender to send a magic packet to my server it will not wake. I shutdown the Eddie client and then it will work. I thought that by adding the servers IP address to the routes page to allow it to be outside the VPN tunnel would enable it to work ok. But it will not wake the server. I then disconnect from the VPN server and exit from the Eddie client and then use the Magic Packet sender and then my Server wakes up as expected. Any help please...? There's an option to allow local network even with the network lock on. That should work. Try that without adding any extra routes. If local network is allowed and you're adding local routes that may cause a problem. Quote Share this post Link to post

If local network is allowed and you're adding local routes that may cause a problem. Thanks I have tried that. I have tried all the permutations possible without success. Quite a while ago, before the Eddie client was updated, it would always allow local traffic Magic Packets without any issue. For some reason unknown to me it seems to now prevent magic packets from getting to my server. If I disable it as noted I can then wake the server. Also if I leave it running but just use my Android phone, not then running through the Eddie client, I can wake the Server by Magic Packets over WiFi and then access it on the Windows machine which has the Eddie client installed. So the PC with the Eddie client isn't preventing Network access to the Server but it is preventing the Magic Packets from waking it up in the first place.I have full access to the Server once it is awake. This did not used to happen with older versions of the Eddie client, I never needed to configure it to allow Magic Packets over the Internal network. Quote Share this post Link to post
Vimes 4 Posted ... Just to let you know that I downloaded the older version of Eddie version 2.11.15 and it works perfectly well and allows Magic Packets as I would expect with no changes and wakes the server. EDIT: Also tried out version 2.12.4 and that works fine with no errors when using Magic Packets. So the latest version 2.13.6 has the issues I describe. Quote Share this post Link to post
Vimes 4 Posted ... I have had some support from AirVPN, when submitting a ticket. However none of that has been specific enough to allow me to know what to do with the latest AirVPN client to allow it to behave as the previous version did in respects of the Magic Packets. The settings appear the same to me and yet the Magic Packets do not seem to get through to the Sever even though I get..... Quote Share this post Link to post
