Random connection timeouts while torrenting

Recommended Posts

This problem I have started ever since I got the new Windows Creators update. What is happening is that while I download something in qbitorrent after a while my speeds go to 0 kb/s and then the AirVPN client timeout and starts to reconnect. Here is the specific part of the log.

Up until this point everything is normal. At 12:20:44 my speeds are 0

The real problem is that while the AirVPN client connects to a new server and does it's thing my torrents speed up again, even before it finishes. This not supposed to happen right? That is what the network lock is for. If I stop the torrent when the packet error line first pops up, it stops and I stay connected. This only happens with torrents browser downloads are fine.

Sure I had this problem too since Windows 10 Creator Update changed many things how network adapters work. You can visit the topic I link to, it started to everyone including people using OpenVPN or any other VPN service.

* Your VPN IP/TCP/UDP connection setup times, for every external IP your Torrent client wants to connect with go, over all network adapters, your true IP does not leak off course but you should manual try to override the VirtualTAP adapter gets first always instead of your system picking random network card.

It is because Microsoft changed something inside Windows which they like to do once and a while.

Problem is solved in the latest Eddie Experimental for Windows 10 but I assume you have an older Eddie Client. But then you can simply modify it as described in the topic I link here:

https://airvpn.org/topic/22650-windows-10-creator-update-airvpn-dns-slow/

The topic is called:

Windows 10 creator update Airvpn DNS slow ?
