VLC Streaming

I run VLC on a work computer and stream some video content over the internet. Is there a way to secure that communication? I do not have the ability to install a VPN on the computer as I access a lot of local resources (files, servers, websites). Is there any way to use AVPN to secure that? Maybe not, but worth an ask.

even with network lock on there is still an option to keep the local network available.  look in the settings.

That mostly works, except I connect to a VOIP service that does not run well through the tunnel. Can I proxy just VLC?
