WebRTC leak - how to test?

Recommended Posts

A friend sendt me this link; https://privacytoolsio.github.io/privacytools.io/

Which pretty much says that only firefox can keep you safe from vpn leeks and other privacy inrusions, I'm not convinced so I set out to test my daily browser ( chrome ) - but I cannot seem to test webrtc leaks;

https://privacytoolsio.github.io/privacytools.io/webrtc.html

shows no IPs at all ( vpn or no )

and with airVPNs tool : https://ipleak.net/ I can't figure out where it indicates that webrtc is leaking

The IP changes depending on weather I'm on VPN or Not as you would expect - where does it show that I am leaking, I mean chrome is suppose to - so ?

Chrome: Version 57.0.2987.133 (64-bit)

I run AirVPN on my router with split routing ( switching between an DHCP and manual IPv4 on my computers depending on weather I want VPN or not )

What am I missing?

To disable Webrtc surely and definitively in Firefox:

In the browser bar enter

about:config

ask to find

media.peerconnection.enabled

Set the value to false

And Check again in ipleak

Thanks for that information.

However the question was; "how can I actually test weather or not I have this problem currently?"

I sort of suspect that because I use source based split routing to force *all* traffic from a specific subnet through the tunnel that I doesn't matter that webrtc is enabled, how ever I would like to test that theory.

Actually nevermind - I tested the two urls in firefox and it shows my internal address for webRTC.

Guess chrome has fixed it somehow as it does it even on a brand new install

I first thought that it migth be privacy badger, but for some reason it doesn't block webRTC by default;

Among Google Chrome extensions "Webrtc control" is working very well .
