Is it possible on Linux using OpenVPN to only allow VPN traffic and disallow non-VPN traffic, in case the VPN disconnects?

Thanks. I'm still not sure what exactly to do. I'm running the latest Debian stable and have never done anything with iptables.

Your first link includes the iptables rules for a (hopefully) working firewall that will only allow VPN traffic, but how do I do this exactly? I have the iptables package installed, but I can't find an "iptables.dat" file to backup in case this would go wrong. I'm quite new to Linux so if you or anyone else could explain this to me step by step it would be a big help.

Ok, I think I found out how to do this. Unfortunately, it doesn't work. I've copy / pasted all the iptable rules from the first link and the internet stopped working completely until I restarted my PC. Any ideas?
