Unable to connect to VPN at work

So at work I connect to a wifi network. Then when I open my browser I am re-routed to a login page where I enter a user/pw. After this I can surf as normal, but lots of websites are blocked of course.

 

Is it possible to get airvpn working on this type of network? I'm basically stuck at trying to connect to a server. I tried fiddling around with some settings and ports, but I'm basically just shooting blind. Here is a log.

I think its because most schools and work places block the port VPNs use, try configuring the VPN to use port 80 or 443

Thanks for the reply. I went to "forwarding ports (web)" from the menu and got a few randomly assigned ones and forwarded to 80 and 443. But not quite sure what to do after that?

You don't need to forward those ports, you need to make the .ovpn config file connect through 443 port

Look in the settings of the AirVPN client (Eddie).

worth a word of warning some employers specifically call this out in employment contracts as a no-no which can lead to disciplinary procedures etc. 

As above though, if you want to proceed, use port 443 or 53, and if necessary invoke SSL to disguise the OpenVPN traffic and you should be good to go.
