Eddie runs events commands as administrator on windows

Recommended Posts

Eddie needs administrator privileges on Windows to run OpenVPN.  If you start it as an unprivileged user, Windows asks for the administrator password.  So far, so good.  Eddie then runs as an administrator job.

If you define actions in the case of an event (for instance when VPN Up happens), the action is ALSO run with administrator privileges and not under the unprivileged account.

I always work under an unprivileged account, and obviously have the administrator password.  Why?  Because I like to give programs I run as few privileges as possible.  I therefore would like to be able to run the event action(s) under the account from which Eddie was STARTED, and not as administrator.

Would it be possible to implement this in a future version?

Never mind.  I solved this by using a scheduled task under the non-privileged user account which is started with 'C:\Windows\System32\schtasks.exe /Run  /TN Local\my_program' by the VPN Up event.
