if all proprietary software is compromised why would a vpn help?

i use airvpn on my pc but i installed opensuse. so nsa prism stuff should not be a worry.

 

however, i have an iphone 5 and even jailbreaking does not allow one to replace the os so the thing is tapped, literally. would using my account on the phone compromise everything?

 

i mean i know you guys say the client doesnt do well on ios anyway, but this is another concern. i could import config files to the openvpn client. is even that not constant....like no network lock?

it sounds like you need to decide just how anonymous and private you want to be.  if you want to head down that road ditch your iphone and get a burn phone, paid with cash.
