Two computers with vastly different connection speeds (on same network)

Are both using wireless or wired?

 

If they're wireless try testing both wired and take it from there.

Then test using the same server via connecting laptop 1 - test, disconnect, connect laptop 2 and test.

 

It could be a bad or weak wireless adapter, small or different buffer sizes or even antivirus/firewall software. But if they're on wireless eliminating that as a possibility would be my first step anyway.
