"unauthorised network" & windows firewall setup

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

it's the old fart again,

in win 7, when connected with airvpn,  the tap-connection is shown as  "unauthorised network...no internet access",( which is untrue as I am connected).........according to an old post, this is said to be normal, nothing to worry about....is it?

And, if it is normal, how do I setup windows firewall.........? as i undertand it the profile given to a network connection plays a big part in forming firewall rules, or am I ,once again, missing something basic/obvious ?

any help , as allways, greatly appreciated

regards,

Ian

thanks rickjames,

I'm wanting to ensure that no matter what brain fart I have (eg turning off network lock) that no automatic download traffic (torrent/nzb) escapes

As I read the help file (now I,found it), am I right in thinking that

1/   if I disable AIRvpn,  then install sabnzb,deluge......then create firewall rules in windows firewall to block outgoing for both of them, on                                          "Lan Connection 1"..private profile..........

2/ with network lock enabled, mode set to windows firewall then  reconnect to Airvpn........

will achieve what I want ?

Does this make any sense ?

thanks in advance,

Ian

That would probably work. I say probably because with windows its like playing the lotto. Try it, then test the hell out of it.

Or you could run an external firewall/router with firewall rules only allowing traffic to the air server/s. I would go the external route personally. Relying only on windows to function correctly isn't ideal.
