Hi, I'm looking for a virtual SMS service, I'd need to get registratios' confirmations etc.

Our team had partial success with _receivesmsonline.(com)/buynumbers  for a couple of services that must verify your number (eBay/Amazon selling account).

You might want to check them out.

 

However, be assured that even though this service (and probably others that other members might suggest) accepts Bitcoins, this is not private nor anonymous.

Your messages can be read by any 3d party of Voice/SMS services, and this method should NOT be considered anonymous, but rather pseoudonymous.

 

A truly anonymous SMS service will always be a pre-paid SIM card used for your own purposes.

Never trust your real privacy after reading some random suggestion from someone you don't know on the internet.

Why not use SIP? There are many freeware clients available and even hardware options if you want that.

It depends on exactly what you need. I use a hardware device. (Cisco SPA3102) and as such I have to pay a few dollars every month to my VoIP provider for my telephone service. And then I pay per minute as well.

 

But if you do not need a telephone service, but merely VoIP service you can use on your PC, there are innumerable options. You can even host your own, although I never tried this and cannot really make anything other than incomplete suggestions. And many such options may not work over the VPN. I just do not know.

 

The G.711u codec is great for perfect audio quality and almost zero latency. But if you need as much bandwidth as you can get, the G.729a codec is great too. (Either of these will work fine with the bandwidth you get on a dial up modem from two decades ago, so I would stick with G.711u as your primary codec.)

 

If you just want to chat with another person over the Internet, and have a good headset, I would probably try Mumble first.

Most others I tried in the past are now commercial or have changed too much for me to even know if I found the right product. (For example, Loudtalks was an option at one point, but now every time I search for it, I get sent to "Zello" and I do not actually know what it is. thanks for your very useful reply. I just need a service to receive SMS, therefore, a very basic service. 

 

voip.ms doesn't seem to allow  so, and Blink needs a Sip contract to work

Yeah. I saw the "virtual phone" in the title and figured SIP may work for this. I know basically nothing about SMS. I wish you luck, and if I happen upon any useful information, I will be sure to post it here.

not exactly free but not expensive $10 / year if you want phone number only USA as far as I know you can transfer your current phone number just like me my company was Tmobile but I am currently out of us and I will transfer my phone number because my phone company allow me only 90 days vacation plan and with majic jack I can keep my number for $10 / year
