How to setup AirVPn in ubuntu with putty

I am running a digitalocean server which is hosting my forum site. I want to run airvpn on my server to hide my servers real ip. I have added the files to /ect/openvpn/ directory. Do i have to manually setup a config file? Should i add a virtual desktop and install network manager would that be easier?
