Do you trust cloud based antivirus software?

It looks like more vendors are going to the cloud.

I see Webroot, Comodo, Panda, and others check your system against cloud based virus definitions, but what are they sending to and from the cloud?

I like Kaspersky, as I'm pretty sure that a Russian company is not embedding NSA supported code.

They use a hybrid of local and cloud based scanning. My primary concern with such setups if that it doesn't mention the type of encryption (if any) is used for that data link back to their servers.
