AirVPN IPs are they visible as AirVPN?

Recommended Posts

Been using AirVPN for a year now. Had it for a few days when first started as went away, so wanted to trial it at a hotel. Was good so purchased a year sub and now I'm back for another year

Anyway. The question is, although when we use AirVPN our traffic is encrypted and there are no logs, what happens when someone traces back when we were using AirVPN? Do they end up at AirVPN's IP for their server and if someone, for example, Ebay or Amazon were to look at that IP address, I assume they'd know then, whoever was connected to them at that time, was using AirVPN as it's AirVPN's IP?

I asked because when you do a test at ipleak.net it shows under DNS addresses that I was on AirVPN server.

Although I do use the ipleak.net site to do tests, I mostly don't understand it. I just understand that as long as its not showing my real IP, I'm fine. Just concerned the other end will be able to work out I'm using a VPN. If that makes sense?

Yes, this is absolutely the case. Every VPN provider in the world, with no exceptions, has IP's that are used by that provider - that's the very definition of a VPN. So any IPv4's/IPv6's you use on a VPN provider can be recorded as such. You can be certain there are many services that have compiled databases of which VPN's owned which IP's and for exactly how long. You could do the same by connecting to all AirVPN nodes and recording each entry/exit IP - this could even be automated too .

Whether you feel that's a risk is entirely up to you, but there is no getting around this, no matter which VPN provider you use (even your own) it's possible to log that IP was used for anonymization purposes.

Here's an example of a very popular service offering a database of anonymous IP's:
