I have spent two solid days pretty much trying to get this VPN to work I had some success with setting up a static IP from the ISP's modem to my belkin wireless router and then to my computer.  Unfortunately I discovered that everything was starting to time out.  So I cleared everything back to the normal way which is running AIRVPN and then to hide my dns I did what it says to do on solution b on this link https://www.dnsleaktest.com/how-to-fix-a-dns-leak.php.  It started off okay but now everything is so slow. I have been playing with the port forwarding with no success. I am completely exhausted of ideas and have searched many forums with no success.  I will be happy to give any information to get this all running.  I apologize for not making this easy and for being such a newb as I do not know what information will help or what else to try.

Welcome. Sounds like you are using the AirVPN client application (not OpenVPN GUI Wrapper). If so, make sure you select a server with a low % (bandwidth utilization) then select the "Modes" tab and select a different port. I think the AirVPN client uses UDP 443 by default. Try TCP 80 and/or UDP 53. It took me a while to find which port gave me the best speed. During that process Staff suggested disabling anti-virus and firewall. That wasn't the problem in my case but worth a try.

Once you have that straightened out you might want to have a look at these posts regarding DNS leaks. It's easier to create batch files if you haven't already:
