Eddie-CLI unable to connect, Linux Debian

Hello!

I'm currently trying to set up eddie on linux using eddie-cli to solve my issues with a ~2MiB seed speed with the current wireguard config on a 500/500 fiber network. I'm using the following command to connect, plus my login credentials obviously

./eddie-cli -connect -netlock.connection=false
and I am getting as far as switching the DNS and flushing it until I get the error "Exception: Executable '/usr/sbin/service' not allowed: Writable by group". I assumed this was a permissions thing, but the airvpn user plus the root user (obviously) have permissions to this file. This is what the logs look like around that section, right after the latency test:
