QBT and Gluetun listening on AirVPN port

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get QBT ACTUALLY listening on my open port on airvpn. I have my docker compose setup for a wireguard protocol. QBT is in network mode: "service:gluetun" has a vpn ip during testing but will not download ubuntu or any other test torrents. My network interface is set to tun0 all ipv4 addresses and trackers still time out and port test on airvpn says connection refused (111)
any ideas would be much appreciated, i can pastebin my compose and logs if needed, starting to think home servers arent for me lol
