qbittorrent on unraid - errored torrents

Recommended Posts

Hi Community-

I am using the binhex qbittorrent w/VPN docker app in unraid 7.1.4. I have settings applied within docker to point to my AirVPN credentials. I was downloading/seeding fine for weeks, but randomly last night I added 5 new torrents (from the same site), and 4 of them tripped errors- the last downloaded fine. I subsequently added another torrent from a different site, and that tripped error too, so I know it has to be my AirVPN config or the docker config. Nothing changed in unraid between a successful torrent and these errored torrents, and I found strange that 1 of them worked but 4 didn't. They all show as having active seeders, so that is not root cause.

I checked qbittorrent logs in unraid and see:
"sitnl_send: rtnl: generic error (-101): Network is unreachable" (red-font error)
and
"WARNING: OpenVPN was configured to add an IPv6 route. However, no IPv6 has been configured for tun0, therefore the route installation may fail or may not work as expected." (yellow-font warning).

Suggestions? I was using a USA-based config in AirVPN, so perhaps I generate a new config and upload the related .ovpn and .conf files to the appdata folder in my unraid server, and restart?

Thank you community for your guidance!

Can you post the .ovpn config you're using? Remove all certificates from it, though.

Well, obviously I meant the contents of that file. What am I supposed to do with the filename? :D

DNS = x.x.0.1, (DNS string listed here)

[Peer]
PublicKey = (public key here)
PresharedKey = (" ")
Endpoint = america3.vpn.airdns.org:443
AllowedIPs = 0.0.0.0/0,::/0
PersistentKeepalive = 15
WebUI\Password_PBKDF2="(hashed password)"

This confuses me. This is a Wireguard config, but your original post mentioned OpenVPN errors. So, is your Unraid using OpenVPN or Wireguard?

Alex- perhaps this is the problem, I had generated an OpenVPN config but if above is Wireguard, then I may need to dump the config files and start over with generating an OpenVPN config from config generator and then start again? I must have checked wrong bot in generator the initial pass. That said, unsure why it was working previously and suddenly stopped working (qbittorrent_VPN, I mean).

Sorry for asynchronous nature of replies BTW- power was out yesterday and this morning. The unraid qbittorrent w/VPN instructions state to place a credentials.conf file (my AirVPN credentials) and .ovpn config file in the user -> appdata ->binhexqbittorrent folder, and I can connect to the qbit web application just fine, but there clearly is something going awry since any new torrent I start (after the aforementioned time) will start downloading for a second and then immediately error. I don't see anything else in the log files.

I also use unraid and this particular docker, however I do not use the vpn built in or proxy, I make a subnet for my vpn. Anyhoo here is the link to how to set it up.
Without seeing your docker setup I am not sure if you initially setup it up as a wireguard or a openvpn protocol. Also you're 7.1.4 of unraid and I have read the posts that some users have issues with networking. Were you on 7.1.4 when it was working or did you update recently?

Thanks Flat- I started with unraid on 7.1.4; never used any other version (I'm not to unraid). Thanks for posting the link, I will check it out.

All- I ended up completely de-installing binhex qbittorrent, re-doing everything with settings, generating new config, and then pointing at torrent downloads folder in qbittorrent, torrents are preceding per usual now. But it makes me suspicious of the unraid config because I know AirVPN works great.

Oh just recently binhex deployed a new docker container that does gluetun and while you have to change the docker container to pull this different version it could be when you updated it pulled the incorrect image.
