rnd227 0 Posted ... Why does the error happens on one specific Air server, and not on the next ? I don't change anything on my machine when I switch an Air server, do I ? Are the Air servers not all configured the same way ? Quote Share this post Link to post
matts9 10 Posted ... 2 hours ago, rnd227 said: Are the Air servers not all configured the same way This is not a problem on the AirVPN end. Google maps use different data points to locate you. One of them is the AirVPN server exit IP. How do Google know where the IP (x.x.x.x) is located? They use a IP geolocation database which contains approximate location (typically country-city level) of every IP address. The number of IPs is limited (you may have heard about IPv4 address exhaustion), so nowadays providers have to buy IPs on the free market. It is possible that at some point that IP was used by some Iranian internet provider. Or it can be just a mistake in the database, who knows. You could ask Google to update their IP database, but you'll get ignored (99% ). I would wait and hope that this fixes itself with time. PS. Here's a cool website which shows geolocation data from few public databases: https://www.iplocation.net/ip-lookup. As far as I know Google's geolocation database is not available publicly to query. PS2. I've checked in private window, and indeed Google Maps opens in Iran (Teheran). If I login to google account it jumps to my real location. Quote Share this post Link to post
