What Makes for a Good VPN server

Recommended Posts

General question, what makes for a good proxy server?  Best speeds, et?  I've noticed Air's higher load capacity proxies are typically slower, why?  When using AirVPN, my best speeds are often found with lowest latency #, and lower load capacity (2000), why?  Perhaps "YMMV" regarding my observations above?

Any riffing/feedback on factors for which, "what makes for a good proxy?", are welcomed.
Thanks in advance  :)  DfP

*crickets* ?  Huh.  Guess everyone's on Reddit anymore (too bad Cloudflare blocks anon browsing on Reddit when connected via most Air, or any? VPN servers).  :P  I'm curious why some longtime VPN servers skate through Cloudflare blocking, vs. others which are flagged?

Seems like no rhyme nor reason, but f*ck if I know.  All I do know is I'm throwing some $$ behind that company's stock... I loathe their service(s), yet respect them.  Throw a little wampum behind some "NET" stock (thank me later).

For me, it's usually a balance of ping and speed, but general stability as well, because I play games from time to time. So, I prefer Estonian server, or Norwegian servers when they are not loaded more than 75%.

These locations have the least ping and good speed delivery for my location.
(Latvia has even lower ping, but I seem to lag from time to time when I'm playing a shooter, so I don't usually use them, and Swedish servers don't seem to fit my needs)

^agree with you there @AG999.  Thanks for reply.  I've read some other threads here and realize server hardware is a factor (I hadn't thought about).  A country's broadband infrastructure would probably factor. Does South Korea sell server space?

I'll add that I'm having nice results with Air's Netherlands servers (which Id forgotten about -until this recent update to Eddie 2.24.6).     :)
