Eddie-ui not starting on Ubuntu

Recommended Posts

All of a sudden is eddie-ui won't open on Ubuntu 20.04 and 22.04 at first is says it's because of caberra library or something. I installed that and it still won't open, any suggestions or has anyone else experienced this issue? It just happened all of a sudden it was working before...

Try reinstalling it first. If still not working, start eddie-ui in the terminal and paste the output.

I uninstalled and re-installed, did not help.

when running eddie-ui in terminal this is output

Gtk-Message: 12:53:56.683: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"
F 2025.01.11 12:53:56 - Cannot initialize UI. Probably a DISPLAY issue, ensure your are not running as root. Error:A null reference or invalid value was found [GDI+ status: InvalidParameter]
I see that it can't load canberra module so I install it with
sudo apt-get install libcanberra-gtk-module
I run eddie-ui again in terminal and this is output
F 2025.01.11 12:56:30 - Cannot initialize UI. Probably a DISPLAY issue, ensure your are not running as root. Error:A null reference or invalid value was found [GDI+ status: InvalidParameter]
I cant find much else in terms of errors in /var/log/syslog
this was working, then eddie started dropping connecting restart vm and all of a sudden eddie-ui wouldnt open. I've tried fresh vm installs and same issue on ubuntu 20.04 and 22.04

I'm not sure what you mean? DE? the contents of DISPLAY are the rest of my screen, like firefox, terminal etc.... I also tried to run eddie-ui -cli -login=xyz password=xyz -connect and it never connects to a server.

Could you please clarify better what you are asking for regarding DISPLAY and DE? THanks so much for taking time to help!

The contents of the DISPLAY variable. In a terminal:

echo $DISPLAY

That's what's hinted at with this error:
Quote
Probably a DISPLAY issue
as in, probably an issue with the DISPLAY variable.
