VPN, DNS... almost correct? - and ipfw rules for osx 10.6.8 that work?

Recommended Posts

So... everything works great, I love the service.

Two questions, hoping someone can help!

Firefox 17.1 & 10.6.8 with tunnelblick, tcpblock, firewall and firewall router with no port forwards.

1. By all accounts my ip is hidden, no leaks etc.. tried dns leaks, browserspy, whoer etc ... and a few others-- my isp or ip never shows.

BUT.. my connection often tries to route to a local Google DNS.. ???? One in an area close to me.

Why? Everything is configured properly.. gone to extreme lengths to configure/reconfigure various settings... still occasionally, no matter what airvpn server I am connected to, sometimes my DNS will route to a local Google server.

That scares me a bit.. Can anyone explain that ?

FYI- no cookies, no lso's, dns settings correct. Removed search plugins from firefox (they often connect to local servers btw if you guys haven't looked, try it).

2. IPFW rules to disconnect when vpn drops.

None of the referenced rules or suggestions work. Tried with waterroof, noobproof, manually, apple scripts etc.

It kills the entire connection, always. Tried everything. I flush old rules first of course..

In tunnelblick I get the all this stuff (copied from a message on that thread).

tried everything else on that thread... changed ownership rules etc..

Any ideas???

Thanks in advance to anyone that has some suggestions.
