Slow DNS resolution Windows with "Split-tunneling"

Recommended Posts

Posted ... (edited)

Hello,
I have been using AirVPN for a while now using Eddie and I have been using this (Running OpenVPN on Windows without VPN as Default Gateway · tool-maker/VPN_just_for_torrents Wiki (github.com)) in order to run my torrent client under VPN while the rest of my machine is running outside the tunnel.

I was running a Windows 10 machine and everything was fine but I had to upgrade to a Windows 11 machine and now doing the same the DNS resolution is really slow (about 10-12 seconds).
If I do not run the VPN it is fine. If I run everything through the VPN it is fine but once I run the script to bypass the VPN the DNS resolution starts failing.

I have Cloudflare DNS on both WIndows and Eddie. And I have tried with AirVPN default DNS, ISP DNS, Google DNS...

I tried to disable IPV6 on windows (I cannot do it easily on my router). And tried the solution provided here:

But nothing is working.
Networking is a bit out of my knowledge so I am unable to solve this issue...

Could anyone help me ?
