ANSWERED User Interface/GUI has gone wonky.

Recommended Posts

Hi.

Using Linux Mint, Cinnamon 21.3 with Eddie Version 2.21.8

As you can see, Eddie's user interface or GUI looks scrambled on the first two screenshots.

2.thumb.png.b38fb5a853e2fe2f165ad8f548045a40.png

If I change the main font in the UI section to "Ubuntu" size 10, regular, the GUI becomes more acceptably readable (third screenshot).

However upon checking and saving this setting the GUI improves but I cannot set/apply this setting permanently. It defaults to "DejaVu Sans" 10 again, and on a restart/reboot the GUI is once more scrambled and needing adjustment again.

It is a slightly annoying occurrence.

I hasten to add, other than this glitch, AirVPN works flawlessly.

Has anyone else noticed this behavior?

Is this related to Linux Qt5 settings, or is it Eddie?

I have not got a clue.

Is there a fix that a 5 year old could apply?
.......😁

Install eddie-ui_2.24.2_linux_x64_debian.deb
Eddie stable 2.21.8 is 2 years old. The GUI was fine on Linux Mint 20.x but not so much now. There were recent updates to Cinnamon that could have messed with the GUI. Try the latest "beta" and see if the GUI responds better.

It appears that the newer version has ironed out the wrinkles!!

I'm always a little suspect about "experimental" software, hence my reluctance, however, this seems to have fixed the problem I was experiencing.

Thank you.
