MacOS Ventura Eddie "This site cannot be reached."

Connecting to AirVPN through Eddie 2.21.8 on MacOS 13.5 gives me nothing but problems. On default settings it was stuck on "Checking route IPV4" Following instructions from another thread, I followed the recommendation to disable DNS checking and disable "Check if the tunnel effectively works" and enabled Network Lock on the main screen. This bypassed this problem, but I cannot get to most web sites. If I go to a web site that I was at recently it will load very slowly. If I go to a new site, the browser says "This site cannot be reached." It's acting like the DNS isn't returning anything. Entering my own DNS servers (1.1.1.1), doesn't change this behavior.

UPDATE:
This problem was occurring while staying at a hotel. Since returning home, the problem is no longer occurring. Could the hotel be blocking known VPN IP's?
