Have you checked the relevant P2P FAQ entry?

I have yes. would disabling my firewall fix this issue, or is that not recommended?

If it's a local (application) firewall, make sure the torrent client is allowed to listen on the tunnel interface.

Also when i was using other vpns, the option to have no proxy server (called none) would appear under the drop down, but it doesnt seem to be here. I also have it set to none in Eddie under proxy type.

I deduce that you probably didn't configure your firewall, so it's not the issue.

Based on the little screenshot you are using Windows. Please bind qBittorrent to the tunnel interface. This is done in the Advanced section of the settings > Bind to interface. Select Eddie WinTun and restart qB, then try again.
Also, I assume that the port you forwarded matches the port you set in qBittorrent. :)

i managed to sort it out with your help thanks alot, however my speeds are quiet lackluster. Without my vpn i get 250/25 Mbps, however on vpn i am barely getting 1 Mb download.  Is there a way to fix this?

If you are using Eddie, try to set the send and receive buffers to 512 kB and reconnect. It's found in Preferences > Networking > TCP/UDP send/receive buffer size.
