I have somewhat of a good idea how a VPN works. But not totally. I'm new at this so I am testing the waters so to speak, instead of just jumping in. But I'm basically trying to clear up confusion I may have on how this all works. So bear with me.
I understand the purpose of a VPN hiding my ISP and privacy and all that. So I connect to a server in another country, i.e. France. So does that mean I can access "content" in that country that I can't access in my home country? Do I have to know that language? I'm thinking in terms of "content" since I am not a fan censorship. I used to work in media and am disgusted with what we are being fed for information now-a-days. Do other countries have their own version of entertainment/websites that would be blocked elsewhere? I.E. You Tube France. So as a user of a VPN, is there something that I should know as a benefit for someone who knows little about this? Any assistance in helping me understand this is greatly appreciated. Went to my other discussion group and people could not really answer my questions as well as I hoped. Thank you.

Usually yes.

Depends on the content, right?

Geotargeting is commonplace. If you connect from France, you get served things the French probably want to see. It's also used for licensing purposes if you look at Video on Demand: There are different things available in France than in your home country.

To stick to your example, I watch certain Japanese media. For this I connect to the US because there are much more things available there than in any EU country. Certainly a benefit to be able to watch more, right? :) Just one example.

Okay. I am doing the trial for a month. I downloaded the software. And its apparently installed.
What/where do I go now? There is a string on numbers on top in red that says I'm NOT connected. How do I get connected?

These are quite basic questions. Please take a bit of time to get to know Eddie's GUI. Try to answer such basic questions yourself.
You will find that you can choose the servers in the Servers tab on the left, and specific countries in the Countries tab.

How do I get connected to a server in another country in Europe? Currently connected in Canada, but would like to be in someplace in Europe.

Thank you.
