VPN connection drops and does not reconnect automatically

Recommended Posts

Is there any setting that would force Eddie to reconnect. I live in China and it seems connection works for some time. Then it I get OpenVPN3 KEEPALIVE_TIMEOUT and have to manually reconnect.

Eddie reconnects itself usually. Try not using Hummingbird (Preferences > Advanced > Use Hummingbird if available)

I am software developer and I have lot of free time for debugging here :)

I am using Android app. It seems that I have to put phone to flight mode and back, and restart Eddie sometimes to get new stable connection.

I am using OnePlus 10. I have a feeling that there is something wrong with the reconnection algorithm or network detection in Eddie.

That looks more like your RIL/wireless drivers are acting up. Try an OS upgrade first if applicable.

As you're a software dev with lots of free time at your hands, debugging this and thus helping the devs to get to the bottom of this should be easy for you. :)

OS is latest Android version for this phone.

Network works when connection drops because Chinese WeChat is working normally. I think Chinese ISP might be blocking open TCP/UDP connections and preventing new connections when connection drops.

Also, I can see that Android VPN is sending packets but not receiving any.
