Cadenza 0 Posted ... So I have a server on OVH that I RDP to with AirVPN between. However every 20-30 minutes it will drop any connection that is port forwarded. I can restore them by connecting over IPMI and restarting AirVPN however! Quote Hide Cadenza's signature Hide all signatures 🐻🐻🐻 Share this post Link to post

Do the OpenVPN logs say that the connection was lost, then reestablished? Nope! The last log message when I tried to connect was just "collect information about AirVPN" it was made 2 hours before now. So it doesn't seem to be logging anything! I've got a very hard time believing that, unless you're not even connected, verbosity has been turned down drastically (for which there is no setting in Eddie's GUI, so unlikely) or Eddie was restarted. There must be hourly messages about rekeying due to Forward Secrecy – when you're connected, that is. We can only have clearance with a system report which you can find in the Logs tab: Click the lifebelt icon right of the logs (don't pay attention to them here, they will be part of the system report), then paste/upload the contents in the appearing window by using one of the buttons. OpenSourcerer 1435 Posted ... . 2022.05.15 12:28:52 - OpenVPN > write_wintun(): ring is full This kind of messages is very new to me unfortunately. Unsure if this is related to OpenVPN buffer sizes, even more unsure what the problem is exactly. They do seem to appear around Bad Packet ID errors which are well known around here on the other hand. Still, I can only guess. Some quick searches suggest to try OpenVPN beta releases but those suggestions are from 2020… I can imagine the drops being a consequence of these quickly repeating errors. Buffers filling up and the tun interface unable to exchange data anymore, so keepalives time out and the connection is assumed to be dead. Are these drops happening only when you use the connection (heavily) or can they also happen if you don't do anything at all? Cadenza 0 Posted ... They happen just at random as far as I can tell! A bit ago I had RDP running in the background and just popped in to check the server and noticed it was disconnected. Had to log in over IPMI and restart AirVPN. The same issue applies to other protocols such as SSH. Quote Hide Cadenza's signature Hide all signatures 🐻🐻🐻 Share this post Link to post
OpenSourcerer 1435 Posted ... Okay. Can you try TAP instead of wintun? Unfortunately I don't remember where to set this in Eddie, but you can check a box somewhere in Preferences to use wintun instead of TAP. It should be the following path: Settings -> Advanced -> right box "Microsoft Windows Only" -> Force usage of old Tap driver 1 OpenSourcerer reacted to this Quote Share this post Link to post

As such, new logs or even a system report makes sense. Quote Hide OpenSourcerer's signature Hide all signatures NOT AN AIRVPN TEAM MEMBER. USE TICKETS FOR PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT.
