VPN provider bans BitTorrent after getting sued by film studios

Recommended Posts

TorGuard is based in the US, well within reach of its authorities, so theoretically they legally can do what they did. AirVPN is based in Italy, though; other rules.
Something similar already happened to AirVPN, but instead of chicking out AirVPN simply withdrew all Italian servers and continued operating the rest of the server fleet, which is the far better approach than violating Net Neutrality and block a whole protocol everywhere..

@yoyall afaik NL still has somewhat favorable legislation for ISPs / end users / hosting services. NL servers have low cost of ownership too, because a lot of traffic is exchanged there, it's a hotspot. Only few other countries come close if we don't regard third world countries for this purpose.
PS: My advice about a blocklist from above sources still stands.
