VPN has been disconnected on....

Recommended Posts

I am running qvpn on a qnap NAS, with 2 vpn connections.
One as the default, and the second as backup.

All my devices has the gateway of the NAS, so all devices are behind the VPN.
So far so good.

However, i get every whatever hour or so the message that the VPN connection has been disconnected.
Any thoughts????

No one can work with that, sorry. Never screenshot log output, export it to text or look in the OS itself for it (/var/log/ is a good start). Because a) there is log noise from other log facilities while we're troubleshooting networking/VPN and b) a screenshot is never complete, and we almost always need clues from before or after the time of the screen. In this case, the OpenVPN log is missing completely.
Clues on how to login to the QNAP OS itself can certainly be found in the QNAP documentation or help section. Maybe you'll even find ways to export the complete log to a text file…?

Does this happen during peak times or at fixed intervals after connection? Does it affect the primary or secondary VPN connection? Are you at home and pushing when this happens? Come on we need more info if you expect any ideas.
The worst case (if it's not the QNAP software or server) is ISP's NAT devices dropping your mappings and hence connections. Such long standing connections must be rare for sure. Though this is pure speculation.

it happens randomly, once in 24h cyclus.

Appologies for the lack of info given. Currently i am trying an other vpn provider, in order to see if it is the provider or the app on the NAS.
