ANSWERED Why "forbid servers in my country"?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I noticed that the android version of Eddie has a recommended setting to forbid connecting to servers in the local country.

Why is that?  Is that limited to android?  Should I avoid using a local server when I use other Eddie versions?

So, if I'm in Germany, should I ban Eddie from connecting to servers in Germany?

Thanks for the insight.

Cheers,
Jules

Hello!

My personal opinion.
This depends on your threat model. Please take in mind that VPNs are used by many different people. From typical John Does who are conscious about their privacy online, to political dissidents which life may be threatened if they are deanonymized.

It's a matter of trust. If you think your gov or its internet policies my be a threat, then you may consider selecting this option.

Cheers
