Why does an airvpn server in germany sometimes show a US ip?

Recommended Posts

Hello,
So I've been happily using airvpn to access binance from the US for a while now without issue. However recently while logging in from the server Mirfak (who's exit ip is 141.98.102.235 according to whatismyip.com etc.) sometimes binance detects my ip as

50.7.13.146 which appears to be a server company in Illinois, USA...

How could this be happening? I run a linux network namespace with the airvpn interface in it and run my browser instance inside the netns -- ipv4 leaks are impossible with this setup because the ONLY available network interface in the netns is the airvpn tun interface. If the vpn drops for some reason the browser has no internet connection at all. The only idea I have is maybe this is an ipv6 leak? Could an airvpn server in germany somehow route me from ipv6 to ipv4 and exit from a US based server?

Even if it were a leak, I'm not in Illinois, USA and my ISP has nothing to do with the company that owns that 50.x ip address... So it's not a configuration error on my end as far as I can tell.

How can I ensure that I NEVER end up exiting through a USA based ip?

Anyone have any ideas?

Don't use AirDNS. :)

NOT AN AIRVPN TEAM MEMBER. USE TICKETS FOR PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT.

LZ1's New User Guide to AirVPN « Plenty of stuff for advanced users, too!
