vshornsby 0 Posted ... Hello, I tried searching the forum for a tutorial on hummingbird installation to macOS but did not see anything. I see there are instructions on the website but they are rather plan and I am not very technical. I have Eddie 2 installed and working fine but wanted to try out the new Hummingbird. I do not understand how to install it, mostly the instructions that talk about using Terminal. I have Mac Intel running the latest version of Big Sur. Thanks in advance! sagaze 0 Posted ... I agree, the explanations given seem to be targeted at technical folks. I tried the terminal procedure, as per instructions, but my machine seems to require root access to execute the installation script. I'm not confident enough that I won't mess top the system if I go down that road. Would someone please provide a step by step guide for dummies or, even better, a standard installation package for MacOS, like any other application does. Also, I would appreciate a bit more of an explanation when to install Eddie vs Hummingbird - not sure what the differences are exactly. I use an M1 MacBook Pro (Apple Silicon) with Big Sur and tried to install Hummingbird 1.1.1. Thanks for your help. Quote Share this post Link to post
OpenSourcerer 1441 Posted ... Instructions for all possible versions can be found in the readme:https://gitlab.com/AirVPN/hummingbird/-/blob/master/README.md#macos-installation Note that Hummingbird itself is a console application stringently requiring privileges to execute. 13 hours ago, sagaze said: Also, I would appreciate a bit more of an explanation when to install Eddie vs Hummingbird - not sure what the differences are exactly. Hummingbird is an OpenVPN client. In theory it can be used with any OpenVPN profile. Eddie is an AirVPN client using either OpenVPN or Hummingbird and features a graphical user interface for configuration. While it's possible to use it with OpenVPN profiles, this feature must be explicitly enabled. Primarily it's an interface to AirVPN features.
